So often, music for beginning and early intermediate piano students lacks depth and interest. My aim with A Season at the Keys: Christmas Piano Book is to create a book of holiday arrangements that is both approachable and has musical depth.
The collection features holiday favorites arranged for late-beginning to intermediate piano players, designed to be both accessible and musically rewarding. The pieces get progressively more challenging, so students (or adults returning to piano) can return to the book each year as they develop in their musical abilities.
Pianists will need to know how to read treble and bass clef, as well as basic piano fingerings, although the book will also include a brief reminder on how to read piano music.
The book includes arrangements of beloved classics:The Dreidel Song, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, In the Bleak Midwinter, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Jingle Bells, O Christmas Tree, O Come O Come Emmanuel, Silent Night, What Child is This?/Greensleeves, We Three Kings, and Pachelbel’s Canon.
This easy arrangement of this famous melody showcases a piano players ability to play expressively.
Although the left hand never moves from C position, the player will need to understand how to play various intervals. Players will need to move to a new right-hand position, moving each finger up 1 white key in measure 5.
This easy arrangement of Jingle Bells will delight young players. The second page includes the first verse song, but is optional for players who may not be confident in moving positions. The arrangement also includes fun facts about the song, including a link to hear Jingle Bells played in outer space!
